Our Ministry

To Know Christ

To know Christ - This is the ministry and purpose of La Crosse Baptist Church.

As stated in our constitution and by-laws the purpose of La Crosse Baptist Church shall be to preach and propagate among all people the Gospel of the revelation of God through Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, to provide regular opportunities for public worship, to sustain the ordinances, doctrines, and ethics set forth in the New Testament for the church of our Lord Jesus Christ; to nurture its members through a program of Christian Education; and to channel its offerings to support the objects of the Redeemer’s Kingdom.

God wants to have a personal relationship with you. Wow, isn’t that amazing that the creator of the universe would first of all even know who you are and would even think of loving someone like you? Well, He does, but we have a problem that stands in our way. Our sin does not allow us to enter into that relationship. Fortunately, God has made a way for us to have our sins forgiven and for that personal relationship to begin. God’s plan of salvation is as simple as A, B, C.

A - Admit “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23) “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Sinners - The Bible tells us that everyone has sinned (Romans 3:23). That means you, me, and the person sitting next to you. You do not have to look very hard or long to figure that one out. The Bible also tells us that there is a penalty for our sins (Romans 6:23). We have all witnessed what happens when a person goes too fast on the highway, they get a ticket from a police officer. With God, those who have sinned must be punished, most people get that as well.

The Gift - Romans 6:23 goes on to say “But”. Paul, the writer of Romans, lets us know that God has given us eternal life through Jesus Christ. We cannot earn eternal life. We can only accept this free gift from God.

B - Believe “Then he brought them out and said “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” And they said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.” (Acts 16:31)

Believe - Since we cannot earn our eternal salvation (Ephesians 2:8-9), Jesus clearly explained to Nicodemus that he must believe in Him (John 3:15-18, 36). The entire book of John was “...written so that we may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing we may have life in His name.” (John 20:26-31) When Paul and Silas were in prison, the jailer asked them “what must I do to be saved?” Their response ruled out any list of “to do’s” other than to “believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved, you and your household.” (Acts 16:31)

C - Commit

Commit - When a person believes in Christ and receives God’s free gift of eternal salvation, he/she becomes a child of God. (John 1:12) He/she has been reborn. However, God does not want us to remain as spiritual infants (1 Cor. 3:1-3). He desires that we mature and become more and more like Christ. To grow spiritually, we must commit our lives to Christ. It is a commitment to obey all that Christ has commanded us to do. The foundation of this commitment is reliance on the Holy Spirit (Galatians 3:1-6) and a desire to love God and others.

So, what is stopping you from believing?

To Glorify

As a community of believers in Jesus Christ it is our desire to glorify God in the local church and wherever God has placed us.

“And it is my prayer that your love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment, so that you may approve what is excellent, and so be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.” Philippians 1:9-11

The world around us may be falling deeper into sin, but our prayer is that God would use us to shine the light of the Gospel message into all the world. Wherever God places us it is our prayer to live a life that is pleasing to the Almighty. La Crosse Baptist Church is a place to learn more about Christ, equipping us to go to a lost and dying world with the message of God’s hope and restoration. Through our actions and attitudes may God receive all the glory and honor.
